Some early Christmas Cheer, Snowman style!

I know it's only end September, but I just couldn' resist!  This little guy is called Slushy, and he's the latest and first Christmas addition to the BOO!beloobie family.

I sketched him, and then I produced and designed the pattern, but I never thought he would turn out exactly as I envisioned him, and I'm chuffed, really chuffed!

I wanted to share him with all you lovely people, as he is already for sale at my Etsy shop! http://www.etsy.com/listing/82717075/boobeloobie-slushy-the-snowman-in-red Go and have a look, there lot's of new little critters on the way as well.

Here's some hints as to what you can expect next!  One oinks, one moo's a lot, there some clucking, and some hooting, and there might even be some waddling as well!

I'll keep you guys posted!

Happy days

A Menagerie of Le Animales!

Laura Johnston is the fabulous creator of the “Le Animale” range.  Her little zoo is situated in Raleigh, NC which she shares with her soul mate and boyfriend, them both being the same man (Hee hee) and their two dogs!

An ordinary day will involve a lot of sculpting and playing, attempting to stay organized while joking with her 2 silly dogs, opposites in almost every way, one being sweeter and the other being a little bit of spice with some sweet thrown in!

She loves to explore new places, adore the mountains, love pizza, is constantly learning about Geology, Geography and new languages!

In Laura’s own words:  ”I tell people all the time that I wish I could have a zoo, or better yet, a zoo of miniaturized animals. Wouldn't that be the coolest? So I created the closest thing possible: "le animalé," a place with mini animals full of cute & humorous antics ready to brighten your day.”

Le Animales are such special little items, in every way!  I haven’t quite seen anything like it yet, and I don’t think I ever will.  Her workmanship is impeccable, they are so tiny, but yet the detail is staggering!

Laura, if I could ask you one thing, never ever stop what you are doing.  If you run out of animals to make, think up some, because your talent and enthusiasm is infectious, your skill is precise and beautiful, and may your little Zoo finally end up being as complete and perfect as the Ark!

Make them feel special!

I love everything to do with scrapbooking, stationary, paper, stickers, ribbons and packaging.  The funny thing is, I've never done real scrapbooking in my life, I prefer to use those items to package presents, send nice packages to clients, and just making the recipient of a gift feel special, even before they've opened up to see what's inside!
My thank you note

"Little Africa in Suede"

My packaging and thank you notes with a "Little Africa"!

I'm busy developing ideas for my own personalised packaging, with some very intricate detail done by hand, and some with the help of my wonderful array of paper and accessories.  It's a work in progress, but I'm already very happy with the results so far.

I also love giving flowers, but oddly don't really like receiving them.  I adore arranging flowers, especially if it's in a special kind of vase or pot, and love using repetition in the arrangement, complementing colours!

Isn't it one of the best feelings in the world to know that someone appreciates the trouble you went through, acknowledges your efforts and sees the value in what you can do?

Ok, I might need some positive reinforcement every now and again, but don't we all?  It makes all the hard work seem like play, and all the time spent extremely worth while......

I hope you are all so lucky to be on the receiving end of pretty packages, lovely words and the smell of roses!

Happy days to each and every one!

Double the Creative Talent!

Kirsten and Cortney, identical twin sisters from small town Maine are the creative minds behind Indigo Twin.  Their works of art is so whimsical, desirable and artistic beyond the realm of someone like me that can work with her hands, but are clumsy with something tangible as clay.

They both graduated from the University of Maine with Bachelor’s Degrees in Fine Art in 1998, but their path to becoming full-fledged artists and partner’s in Indigo Twin started from a very young age, from crayon rubbings to works of art as adults, they were always able to give each other inspiration.

They’ve started a little sister company to Indigo Twin called Indigo Twin weddings, which specializes in unique cake toppers and invitations. No moulds are involved in their clay work and each one is handmade. Their pieces might be a bit rustic and imperfect, but in their own words it just adds to the charm of the item that you get!

Have a look at Kirsten and Cortney’s lovely Facebook pages, blog and Etsy shops!

I adore their work, and hope they keep on with all the wonderful critters, always stay so hands on with their art creations, and keep on delighting us with new and refreshed ideas

Spring has come to South Africa, and not a moment too soon!  So, to celebrate September and all things Spring, I've decided to post some quick tips, recipes, ideas....anything that comes to mind to get us into Spring Fever!

Here's a lovely little recipe I picked up on http://www.tasteofhome.com/   -  It's for a Triple Berry Crumb Pie, and it looks just gorgeous!  This will be one of my first recipe runs for the Spring season!

Otherwise I thought to just share some pics with you that just reminds me of Spring, and all the lovely things that come with it!

Interview with me and the BOO!beloobies on Boxed online!

BOO!beloobie Orli the Owls!

Happy weekend to all, mine have started off with a bang!  My BOO!beloobie toys have started to become part of my family, every single little design I do, and every little critter I make, I do with loads of love and individuality.  I take the time to look for a name, something out of the ordinary, that would stand out and also represent the little animal I'm creating.  I've been lucky that they've been received in such a positive light, they have found a place, and because of them people have started to see my work as designs.

BOO!beloobie Orli the Owl in Pink
I feel very humbled and grateful for all the attention, and the warm comments and new friends in the art and craft communities that I'm making daily!

Boxed online, one of the gorgeous online shops that hosts my products have done a wonderful interview about me and the BOO!beloobies, which I'm so proud of.  Thanks to Sarah for the opportunity and for all the kinds words she said about me......!
